  • Registration Difficulty Medium

The authority checks whether the statutory registration requirements, such as facilities, staff and capital, are met before issuing a registration certificate. Registration can be refused if the requirements are not met.

  1. 01

Checking the registration type and disqualifications: The application differs depending on whether the client is a medical institution (attraction medical institution registration application, Annex Form No. 3) or a company or individual that is not a medical institution (attraction business registration application, Annex Form No. 4), so first confirm the business type and whether the representative falls under any disqualification.

  2. 02

Organizing documents for medical institutions: Prepare a list of specialists for each medical department that will receive foreign patients, and check that the liability insurance (mutual aid) certificate covers medical accidents involving foreign patients, meets the annual coverage limit, and has an insurance period covering the registration validity period.

  3. 03

Organizing documents for attraction businesses: Confirm that the surety insurance policy amount is 100 million won or more and that the paid-in capital of a corporation or the appraised value of business assets of an individual is 100 million won or more, and prepare documents proving ownership or right of use of an office in Korea and the articles of incorporation (corporations).

  4. 04

Preparing and submitting the registration application: Prepare the registration application and the business operation plan in the form set by the Minister of Health and Welfare, submit them to the Si/Do on the client's behalf, and prepare supplementary documents if requested. Upon registration, a certificate is issued and the registration details are posted on the Si/Do website.

  5. 05

Preparing the registration change report: When the name, address, representative, or registration requirements (specialists, insurance, capital, office) change, the registration change report (Annex Form No. 7-2) must be submitted together with the registration certificate within 1 month from the date the reason for change arose, and the Mayor/Do Governor must also be notified within 1 month of a suspension or closure of business.

  6. 06

Renewal application and performance report preparation: Submit the registration renewal application (Annex Form No. 7) within 2 months before the validity period expires, and by the end of February each year prepare and submit the previous year's business performance report including foreign patients' nationality, sex, year of birth, and medical department.
