Preparation of application documents for Digital Nomad (F-1-D) visa and change of stay
The digital nomad (workation) visa F-1-D is a status of stay that allows foreigners who belong to an overseas company and work remotely to stay in Korea. It is in full operation from June 30, 2026, and the income requirement differs by age and region of stay. It is granted 1 year at a time for a maximum stay of 3 years, and employment in Korea is not allowed.
Procedure
- Permit Difficulty High
A procedure that allows a business, activity or stay that the law generally restricts, after review; licenses fall into this type. The authority reviews facility standards, location and consultation with other agencies, and a permit can be refused if the standards are not met.
We will prepare F-1-D visa application materials from embassies abroad or documents for change of domestic immigration status. We distinguish between submission in person at the embassy and submission by domestic visit.
Scope & fee
- Prepare overseas mission visa documents for F-1-D
- We will prepare F-1-D embassy visa application materials by comparing the evidence provided by 1 overseas remote worker, such as income, employment, insurance, and criminal history. Submission and interview at the embassy are carried out by the applicant himself, and separate application by family members is an additional scope. It does not include in-office submissions.

1. Check eligibility
You must belong to an overseas company and be able to work remotely, have worked in the same industry for 1 year or more, and be 18 years of age or older. A spouse and minor children can apply together as family.
2. Calculate the income requirement
For ages 18 to 34, the requirement is 1.5 times the previous year's gross national income (GNI) per capita (about 78,620,000 won) when staying in the Seoul metropolitan area, and 1 times (about 52,410,000 won) outside the Seoul metropolitan area and in depopulation (watch) areas. For ages 35 and older, it is 2 times in the Seoul metropolitan area and 1.5 times outside it, and when accompanied by family, 2 times in the Seoul metropolitan area and 1.5 times outside it applies.
3. Prepare documents, translation and notarization
Prepare overseas income documents such as a certificate of employment, pay statements and bank account records, and a criminal record certificate. Personal medical insurance of 100,000,000 won or more covering treatment and repatriation to the home country is also required. Translation and notarization of overseas documents take the most time.
4. Visa application or change of status in Korea
Apply for the visa abroad, or, if you have already entered with B-1 (Visa Exemption), B-2 (Tourism/Transit) or C-3 (Short-term Visit) status, you may apply in Korea for a change of status of stay once you meet the requirements. You receive 1 year from the date of entry and extend by 1 year each time, for a maximum stay of 3 years.
